Cleanroom Job – No replacement MHA was required

Though it is quite rare, there can be internal damage to internal drive components other than the Magnetic Head Assembly (MHA) which may cause symptoms similar to a head crash, i.e. beeping or audible repetitive clicking sounds.

Problems in this category could include a damaged head ramp or incorrect parking of the heads in the parking ramp zone causing the MHA actuator mechanism to jam.

In these rare cases, a new ramp component may be required, or the heads may be re-positioned and re-calibrated so as to get the hard drive initialised for data recovery processing.
